Although the story and the characters are missing that intimately personal and profound quality that made silent hill 2 so special, silent hill 3 makes up for it with its incredible world design, showcasing environmental horror that occasionally manages to surpass what we saw in silent hill 2. The atmosphere is unmatched in both its horrific elements and its moody ambience, with yet another incredible soundtrack to accompany it. The gameplay and graphics are a big step up from its predecessor, too, and every single location in the game looks and feels uniquely chilling (and occasionally cozy, too, making you wish you could linger about just a little longer).
A masterpiece, and one of the best horror games ever made.
