My ratings reflect a combination of my objective analysis of the game and it's qualities, as well as my personal enjoyment and appreciation for it. You may notice that a lot of these games have pretty high ratings; that stems not from the fact that I'm loose-handed with high ratings, but rather, that I'm far more likely to platinum games I love. If a game here has a high rating, you can be sure it's earned it. Since some people treat a score of 7 as mediocre, I'd also like to clarify that a game rated a 7 is a good game well worth playing; anything above it truly excels in some fashion, but the mediocre games are reserved for 5's and lower.
