Resident Evil 6 is an extremely underrated co-op action-adventure game, and an understandably disappointing Resident Evil game.
Resident evil functionally ceased to be the Resident Evil fans grew up loving with this entry, forsaking every aspect of its survival horror roots in favor of the action oriented gameplay the series had already started growing towards over the past two entries. As someone who absolutely loves the survival horror roots of the franchise, I totally get it. At the same time, I can’t deny how incredible of a time playing this game with a friend is.
The degree to which the co-op mechanics are integrated into the campaign is incredibly impressive and immersive, truly making you feel like you’re tackling whatever comes your way as a team. The action sequences and set pieces are abundant throughout the entire game, and, while they are undeniably over the top and occasionally goofy, they’re also incredibly well done. The gameplay/combat mechanics themselves were fluid, varied, cinematic, and incredibly fun once you get the hang of them. The story was messy and the writing was generally weak, but it was fun watching so many of our beloved characters interact with one another.
Overall, this game is jam packed with so much content that’s generally a blast to get through. If you go into this looking to have a ton of fun with a friend rather than looking for a survival horror game with a compelling narrative, you’re going to get exactly that. Easily one of the best co-op games in existence.
Is It Worth Playing ?
If you have someone to play with, absolutely.
