Despite lacking in substance, Nun Massacre is one of, if not THE most terrifying game I’ve ever played.
I don’t think my heart rate dropped below 120 BPM at any point beyond the introduction; when I finished, I felt like I’d just run a marathon. The sound design is terrifying and insanely loud, contributing to the scares just as much as the Nun’s haunting Al mechanics that have her stalk you across the boarding school, from the halls to the vents. It’s easy to get lost as well, given that so many of the areas you traverse look completely identical to one another. It’s, at times, a frustrating design choice, but one that arguably adds to the fear of it all.
The story, the progression, the level designs, and the gameplay mechanics are all rather lackluster, but that doesn’t stop the nun from scaring the shit out of you.
Is It Worth Playing ?
If your heart can handle it, yes, for sure.
