It’s been a long time since I’ve been as invested in a cast of characters as I was here. Every single character in Dispatch has such a distinct voice, flourishing with both emotional depth and hilarious dialogue. The writing throughout the entire story feels natural, incredibly witty, and genuinely funny, while also knowing when to take itself seriously, leaving room for frequent moments of genuine and heartfelt developments untainted by cheap comedy; plenty of scenes had me genuinely tearing up.
The chemistry and dynamic between the Z team is excellent, and feels like an authentic friend group. The decisions you’re asked to make often seem subtle in nature, while still bearing narrative weight that feels incredibly impactful. The romantic paths with both Visi and Blazer feel genuine and exciting, brimming with the kind of chemistry that has you begging for just one more scene between them. Robert himself is an excellent protagonist, excelling in his witty banter and kind wisdom alike.
The dispatching gameplay itself is a great time as well, and an excellent way to supplement the fantastic storytelling going on. The vibes, soundtrack, cinematography, and overall visuals are excellent, too, really meshing well with everything else to ultimately produce the best interactive drama game since Detroit become human (and, honestly, I think I like dispatch more).
Is It Worth Playing ?
Absolutely.
