The first night I discovered this gem of a game, I inadvertently stayed up until 5 AM, obsessively playing it for nearly 8 hours straight with nothing on my mind the following day but repeating the process all over again.
Balatro is possibly the most addictive game I’ve ever played; the crack of videogames. Slowly learning and discovering everything Balatro has to offer as you progress is thrilling, and figuring out all the combinations/builds you can create with the huge variety of jokers and cards is insanely fun. Every time you think you’ve got it all figured out, you end up finding new ways to blow your previous best out of the water. The challenges and the various decks/difficulties also add a lot of replayability, allowing you to have fun in ways beyond besting your previous scores.
The vibes are excellent too, perfectly blending its simple, retro art design with its great music and audio design. Highly recommend.
