I have no mouth and I must scream has a fascinating premise, faithfully adapting the acclaimed story while accompanying it with beautiful visuals for the time.
Some of the stories are incredibly intriguing in their unique worlds, punishments, and progressions, like Benny’s story, but others drag, with few interesting qualities. My biggest qualm with the game, however, is its gameplay design. The point and click interface is fun and unique, but the puzzle designs often border on nonsensical and random, leaving you stranded without a guide. The game tends to lock you out of progressing the story if you don’t do things in a specific, seemingly arbitrary order, and the endless backtracking to pick up items and use them is both tedious and boring.
It’s solid for its time, and It’s worth sticking through it to see the unique story unfold, but you likely won’t have a great time doing so.
Is It Worth Playing ?
Yes, if you can tolerate the gameplay.
