The Last Of Us Part 2 is an unbelievable display of masterful writing, using its established bonds and
strategic timetable to take you on a heart wrenching journey where your emotions are maneuvered to continually mirror that of Ellie’s, until they don’t.
Simultaneously the most depressing and the most beautiful game I’ve ever played, with countless sequences that left me crying, screaming, and smiling, emotionally affecting me in ways no other piece of media has. I had a weight on my shoulders that made it difficult to think about anything else for weeks after playing, which felt a little surreal.
The genius behind the way certain scenes are made to play out, like the theater debacle, and the rate at which information is revealed to the player, such as the final scene only being shown at the very end, delivering the slightest bit of bittersweet relief to a situation that felt so utterly desolate, while the party flashback came right before the California events, serving to exacerbate every little bit of depressive destruction and guilt you’ve come to feel while also harmonizing with the scenes to come, truly can’t be understated.
The gameplay, combat, immersive mechanics, set pieces, and visuals are perfect, too, improving on the original in just about every way. The fluidity of Ellie and Abby’s movements, the realism behind the gunplay, the visceral gore, and the attention to detail in every single aspect elevates the gameplay above all else.
This is my favorite game of all time, and a piece of art that should be experienced by everyone.
Is It Worth Playing ?
